Preparation
The chemical is prepared by combining n-butyl alcohol and hydrobromic sulfuric acid which converts into a pale straw colored liquid to a colorless solution.
 Applications
- Used as an intermediate to form aklylated metallic compounds and aklylated amines
- Acts as an alkylating agent to introduce the butyl groups that form the carbon-carbon bonds in the organic synthesis.
